Our dynamic and committed team: at the heart of the 45-8 ENERGY adventure
At 45-8 ENERGY, it all started with two friends, an idea, and a conviction: to put geoscience and engineering at the service of a sustainable energy transition. Since then, the team has grown, and each division plays an essential role in carrying out our projects involving the exploration, production, and recycling of helium and natural hydrogen.
Originally, two visionary co-founders
No introduction needed: Nicolas Pélissier and Benoît Hauville are the captains of the ship. Former oil industry professionals and friends since their college days, they embarked on their own adventure in 2017: 45-8 ENERGY.
Nicolas now oversees the financial, marketing, administrative, commercial, and production aspects of the business.
Benoît focuses on geoscience, field expertise, and IT.
A Geosciences team at the heart of exploration
Explorers of the subsurface, they represent half of the company’s workforce. Their mission: to identify and evaluate natural helium and hydrogen resources.
Within this pole, several roles complement each other:
- Those who analyze the data provided to identify areas with high potential,
- Those who conduct and refine research to confirm this potential,
- Those who draft and follow up on exploration license applications,
- Those who manage field projects, data acquisition, and prospective drilling.
A forward-looking Processes team
What happens on the surface is just as important! Our Processes team devises and designs solutions for transforming gas into a usable resource.
The Processes team works to determine the economic potential of exploration and design the initial drafts of what we will later find in our production units. It is thanks to this team that the gas extracted from the ground is transported to the units, separated from its impurities, and then stored for distribution.
You might think it’s just a collection of pipes, bolts, and valves, but it’s much more complex than that, with significant technological challenges to overcome in order to create more efficient and environmentally responsible processes.

The complexity of our business requires specialized expertise. We are fortunate to be able to count on valuable expertise in drilling, geophysics, reservoir engineering, and many other disciplines.
These experts contribute their knowledge, enhancing the reliability and relevance of our projects.
An innovative Operations, Production & Recycling team
This is where it all comes together: the production of helium and natural hydrogen, and much more. This team operates both in the field, at our European facilities, and at headquarters, drawing on its technical and organizational expertise.
At the same time, we have created a Helium Recycling division, unique in Europe. This innovation gives this strategic gas a second life, while reducing the carbon footprint of its use.
A cross-functional team, the cornerstone of success
Less visible but just as indispensable, these multi-skilled individuals support every stage of the adventure.
They work on a daily basis in several areas:
- Administration & Finance: managing cash flow and financial structure,
- Human Resources: supporting employees and attracting new talent
- Communication & Marketing: promoting the image of 45-8 ENERGY and ensuring project acceptance,
- Business: developing relationships with our partners, prospects, and customers.
