Founded in 2017, 45-8 ENERGY is the first company in France and Western Europe specialized in exploration and production of helium and natural hydrogen. Our values guide everything we do:

45-8 ENERGY was the first company to explore helium and natural hydrogen in Europe. Its pioneering spirit has enabled it to position itself as an expert in these sectors and a leader in Europe.
Since 2024, we have also been the first to produce helium on the European ground!

We are pushing the boundaries of technology to design solutions that are more sustainable, efficient, and respectful of the environment.
This commitment has led us to design a membrane process that is less polluting than existing ones and to develop our own helium recycling system.

Through its exploration and production projects, 45-8 ENERGY aims to contribute to the world of tomorrow offering responsible and sustainable extraction of the resources sought.
For helium, the focus is on production in Europe and significant progress in preserving this rare resource. For natural hydrogen, the aim is to advance our understanding of the resource and offer low-carbon production in the context of decarbonising the French and European energy mix.

Our solutions
Helium
In Western Europe, 99% of helium is imported, mainly from the United States, Qatar, and Algeria. However, European demand is high, as helium is essential to many sectors: healthcare, microelectronics, semiconductors, space, artificial intelligence, defense, etc.
Thanks to local production and our unique RECYCL’He solution, we offer native, recycled helium with a low carbon footprint and short supply chain, thereby strengthening security of supply in Europe.
Natural hydrogen
Natural hydrogen is produced naturally in the subsurface. Its generation requires no critical materials or anthropogenic energy and has no impact on available water resources.
It appears to be a complementary solution to other low-carbon hydrogen production processes.
Its joint recovery with helium is a major innovation.
