Our ESG commitments
A responsible, sustainable, and committed industry
Our ESG commitments
Our approach is based on three pillars: Environment, Social and Governance (ESG), in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and our mission: to explore and produce strategic resources in a responsible and environmentally conscious way.
Environment: innovating for a sustainable energy transition
At 45-8 ENERGY, technological innovation goes hand in hand with reducing our carbon footprint. Our solutions are designed to help reduce COâ‚‚ emissions and promote the sustainable extraction of subsurface resources.
- Joint recovery of subsurface resources such as helium and natural hydrogen
- Development of a gas separation process using a compact, non-polluting membrane system that does not release any chemicals and consumes significantly less energy than traditional processes
- Implementation of mobile and fixed solutions for helium recovery and recycling, reducing losses and promoting the circular economy
- Conducting life cycle assessments (LCA) for each project to evaluate its environmental impact and identify areas for improvement
Over 22,000m3 of helium has been recovered and saved in one year of operation by our RECYCL’He mobile solution (September 2024 – August 2025).
Our recycled helium in France has an environmental impact between 2 and 4 times lower than that of traditionally imported helium*
* According to LCA conducted in accordance with ISO 14040 and 14044 standards, data varies depending on several factors: volume recovered, distance between the recovery site and the purification site, helium quality, etc.
Social: safety, training, and well-being
Our employees are at the heart of our success. Their safety, professional development, and well-being are our top priorities.
Health and safety at work
Enhanced HSE culture, systematic protective equipment, employee training in first aid at work (SST).Objective: zero workplace accidents
Training and skills development
Regular training programs in technical skills, risk prevention, ethics, and personal development.Quality of life at work
Employee benefits, collective agreement, participatory policy, regular seminars to strengthen cohesion and team spirit.
In 2025, 73.5% of employees will be trained in occupational health and safety and first aid, and 83% of employees will have completed training for their professional and/or personal development.
Governance: transparency & territorial impact
We believe in ethical, transparent governance that is open to stakeholders.
- Active participation in the reform of the Mining Code in France to include natural hydrogen (2022)
- Participation in the evolution of European mining codes to include helium and natural hydrogen resources (Germany, Balkans)
- Certification of projects to ensure their compliance with the most demanding environmental and social standards.
- Dialogue with local communities: collaboration with elected officials, associations, residents, and local economic stakeholders.
🎯 Aligning our actions with the UN SDGs
Our commitments are part of the international momentum driven by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

SDG 3
Good health and well-being
Safety culture, occupational health and safety training, and improved quality of life at work.

SDG 5
Gender equality
Promoting diversity, inclusion, and gender equality in all professions.

SDG 7
Clean and affordable energy
Development of low-carbon natural hydrogen.

SDG 9
Industry, innovation, and infrastructure
Innovative separation and recycling technologies.

SDG 12
Responsible consumption and production
Innovative processes, helium recycling, and life cycle analysis to limit carbon footprint.

SDG 13
Fight against climate change
Active reduction of COâ‚‚ emissions and circular reuse of helium.
